A practical guide to quality first teaching and learning in music.

As part of the continued support for music education, Greater Essex Music Hub and Charanga are offering a *free training day.

A practical programme of CPD that includes many of the wonderful resources Charanga has to offer, suggesting pedagogical ways in which you can deliver musically in an engaging classroom.

Content includes:

  • Playing musical instruments in the classroom.
  • Listen and Respond.
  • Planning & Assessment
  • What does progression look like?  Instrumental, Vocal, Improvisation and Composition.
  • I can compose!!
  • Differentiation across all year groups.
  • Notation and the theory behind it all.
  • Making it work for you!

During the course, there will also be plenty of time for sharing ideas and asking questions over  the free refreshments.

Prior to the above course, there is also an opportunity is to explore Charanga through its free 30-day trial

Lunch will be provided – please advise any dietary requirements or allergens when booking your place.

*This free course is fully subsidised by Greater Essex Music Hub and Charanga.  The subsidised price is available for staff who work in DFE funded schools served by  Greater Essex Music  Hub (EMEH).  Staff from Independent schools or schools not served by GEMH will be charged £140.

COURSE LEADERS

Kristian Parkes – Kristian has been a practising primary school music teacher for 20 years, working in both the classroom and as a member of the SLT within large inner city schools. He is passionate about inclusion and ensuring that every child has the opportunity of a musical education.

Kristian’s background is as a woodwind specialist, pianist and classical singer. He studied music performance and has a BA in Humanities, with music specialism. As well as working for Charanga, Kristian works as an in-school primary music specialist and is vocal project lead for Essex Music Services.

Sarah Goldsmith – Sarah is Music Curriculum Support Officer for Essex Music Service and previously was an Assistant Headteacher in an Essex Primary school, is an Advanced Skills Teachers specialising in music, and has coordinated projects bringing together Arts organisations and schools for over 10 years.
