Join the Royal Opera House for the second CPD training events exploring the Create and Sing Hansel & Gretel scheme of work (KS1-KS3). The specialist drama and music practitioners will introduce the programme, pedagogy and resources guiding through effective approaches to supporting students’ creative learning by exploring opera.
Create and Sing is an innovative drama and singing programme supporting young people’s creative learning and giving voice to their creativity. Our nationally and freely available teacher training and resources engage schools in a creative process leading towards creating opera in the classroom.
Teachers are not required to have specialist music training as our free certified training and unique online resources help guide them through the programme every step of the way.

Our creative and interactive training sessions invite teachers to collaborate and explore the Create and Sing programme together. There is an emphasis on play, discovery and participation ask attendees to bring a “give it a go” attitude.
Please note this is a 2 part training course and attendees need to register for both parts separately on Eventbrite.
To ensure the required number of attendees we ask all teachers to sign up with a deputy who will step in for you, should you not be able to attend. Both you and your deputy may attend, just let us know if this is likely to be the case.

All Essex music educators teaching from KS1 to KS5 are invited to join Essex Music Education Hub on 11 July 2023 for a Schools’ Music Conference
Special guests and friends of Essex Music Hub will join us for a day exploring how all children can receive the music education they so richly deserve.
During the day we will be joined by:
Sam Stimpson – talking about Equlity, Diversity and Inclusion in music.
Adam Saunders – leading practical instrumental sessions to include all pupils
David Stanley and Music Man Project Ambassadors to see how live music transforms lives
Beat Goes On to include a little music in to sessions, no instruments required!
This course is subsidised from £140 to *£40 by Essex Music Education Hub .
Please note no payment will be taken via Eventbrite.
*£40 (or £140) will be invoiced to your school before the event.
*The subsidised price is available for staff who work in DFE funded schools served by Essex, Thurrock and Southend Music Hubs. Staff from Independent schools or schools not served by the Hub will be charged £140.
Lunch will be provided – please advise any dietary requirements or allergens when booking your place.
Explore how to teach musical notation through practical activity.
The session will be delivered using materials from the Charanga music scheme but the ideas and methodology can be adapted to use with other resources. The session is aimed at teachers with both musical experience or who are new to teaching music.
This event is being hosted by the Tiptree and Stanway Consortium but is open to schools outside of this partnership. If you are part of the Tiptree and Stanway Consortium, you do not need to book for this event through Eventbrite.
*There is no cost for Essex DfE funded schools to attend this training. Other schools will be invoiced £40 for the event.
