Get your pupils singing and learning about the natural world around them.
As a celebration of the life and works of Essex composer William Byrd, Essex Music Education Hub have commissioned The Come and Sing Company (CASC) to devise ‘Musical World of the Woodland’.
Inspired by their local flora and fauna the children will immerse themselves in music, art and stories that respond to the natural world. At the end of the project, the children will be equipped to take part in a performance and share their singing with friends and families.
The project can be delivered in school, at home, or in a local park/nature reserve (with permission!) and is aimed at lower KS2 but can be adapted to use with slightly older or younger pupils.
CASC will provide a set of four complete resource packs which will include videos, music resources, schemes of work, fact files and activities to help teachers deliver the project and ensure consistency of approach and quality.
Launched within an in-person CPD for Essex teachers, CASC will guide participants through the project packs, upskilling teachers in their delivery, discussing the key features of vocal production and health, and increasing their confidence in leading music in the classroom.
