We’ll start by explaining the layout of the Musical School programme before moving on to the fantastic learning resources.
In addition to exploring the Scheme lessons and supporting documents, we’ll show the wide range of materials available in the Freestyle, Instruments, Sing, and special needs areas. There’s music for every moment and everybody!

This software is fun and accessible for beginners and has the functionality to excite more experienced music tech students. Explore the flexible, ready-made units and see how to
share YuStudio with students to support independent learning.
All schools who partner with the Greater Essex Music Hub are invited to join us on 8 July 2025 for a day exploring how all young people can receive the music education they so richly deserve.
This day course is subsidised from £140 to *£60 by Greater Essex Music Hub .

A practical guide to quality first teaching and learning in music.
As part of the continued support for music education, Greater Essex Music Hub and Charanga are offering a *free training day.
A practical programme of CPD that includes many of the wonderful resources Charanga has to offer, suggesting pedagogical ways in which you can deliver musically in an engaging classroom.
Content includes:
- Playing musical instruments in the classroom.
- Listen and Respond.
- Planning & Assessment
- What does progression look like? Instrumental, Vocal, Improvisation and Composition.
- I can compose!!
- Differentiation across all year groups.
- Notation and the theory behind it all.
- Making it work for you!
During the course, there will also be plenty of time for sharing ideas and asking questions over the free refreshments.
Prior to the above course, there is also an opportunity is to explore Charanga through its free 30-day trial

COURSE LEADERS
Kristian Parkes – Kristian has been a practising primary school music teacher for 20 years, working in both the classroom and as a member of the SLT within large inner city schools. He is passionate about inclusion and ensuring that every child has the opportunity of a musical education.
Kristian’s background is as a woodwind specialist, pianist and classical singer. He studied music performance and has a BA in Humanities, with music specialism. As well as working for Charanga, Kristian works as an in-school primary music specialist and is vocal project lead for Essex Music Service.
Sarah Goldsmith – Sarah is Music Curriculum Support Officer for Essex Music Service and previously was an Assistant Headteacher in an Essex Primary school, is an Advanced Skills Teachers specialising in music, and has coordinated projects bringing together Arts organisations and schools for over 10 years.
This course will be suitable for music teachers and leaders who are looking to deepen their understanding of directing choirs, developing singing and conducting musicians and choirs for live performances.
This CPD is for Music Teachers and Leaders, KS1 to 5.

During the day we will explore:

- National guidance and support for music
- Updated Minimum Expected Standards in Music document (written for new model music curriculum)
- How to structure and plan for music from EYFS to KS2
- Resources and ideas for delivering curriculum content
- Assessment, audits and evaluation
- Singing and vocal development
- Practical ideas
There will also be plenty of time for sharing ideas and asking questions over refreshments and lunch!
