Young orchestral musicians of Grade 7 and above are invited to audition for the Essex Youth Orchestra.

Auditions are being held on Sunday 8 September at Chelmsford County High School.

Tony Hougham, Principal Double for the Royal Opera House, will lead a workshop where young musicians will learn how to prepare and present for auditions.

At the end of the day, players will perform to the audition panel with the aim of gaining a place in the prestigious youth orchestra.

Beverley Heard, Ensembles Officer, said:

“It is a great opportunity for any young musician to learn how to audition well, in any situation, whether that is for an orchestra audition or for entry to a Music Conservatoire.”
